on July 30th, at a devoted  gathering of people supporting Qualitas of Life Foundation, I met a woman who came from Colombia to the United States without a penny in her pocket and now is a teacher.  While I listened to her moving story, I ate empanadas made by a once penniless woman who came here from Ecuador and is now an entrepreneur selling her baked goods and catering small  parties

This is what Qualitas of Life is. Teaching financial literacy to a community that is trying to integrate itself into a society where this skill  can spell freedom. They’re doing an amazing job the proof  of which were the two women and I met tonight.

For 17 years, they have developed a wealth of resources to reach the broad and diverse Hispanic community and to ensure that thousands of Hispanic-Americans have the tools to take control of their finances and break the cycle of poverty.
