The inaugural Heal Palestine – Illinois event took place on March 30, 2024, in the southwest suburbs of Chicago. An NGO, Heal Palestine, was established to provide Health, Education, Aid, and Leadership for Gaza’s youth to help rebuild their lives. The event was a resounding success, raising nearly $100,000 for this noble cause.

The generosity of the sponsors, attendees, volunteers, and supporters contributed to the success of this event. Most notable was the alliance of the WBC Cares Middle East chapter, co-chaired by Manal Morrar and Kimberly Spies.

Among the evening’s highlights was the auction of a prestigious green championship belt donated by the World Boxing Council (WBC), which garnered the highest bid of the auction, adding to the substantial funds raised towards the cause. This donation served as a poignant reminder of the power of collective action in making a meaningful difference to the lives of vulnerable children.

One of the event’s most touching moments was the speech given by Leyan, a resilient 14-year-old girl from Gaza who tragically lost both of her legs in a bombing. She is currently undergoing rehabilitation at Shriners Hospital for Children in Chicago, where she recently received her prosthesis.

Leyan remains optimistic: “I am deeply touched by the outpouring of support from the community,” Leyan shared. “Despite the challenges I’ve faced, I am determined to become a doctor one day to help other children like me.”

The funds raised will directly impact the lives of children like Leyan, providing them with essential care and resources to thrive.
