On Friday, November 17th, 2023, WBC President, Mauricio Sulaiman, Jill Diamond, Chair of WBC Cares and many wonderful champions and members of the WBC visited the Paralympic Headquarters in Tashkent, Uzbekistan to give out many gifts and awards.
Usually, our champions inspire the people we visit, but this time, it was they who were truly inspiring. The amazing courage of the Paralympic athletes coupled with their passion for their individual sports, overwhelmed us with emotion.
Among those who came with us was Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield, Billy Dibb, Raja Amasheh, Chiquita Gonzalez, Emma Góngora, and many other WBC Champions. Mike Tyson spoke truthfully about the obstacles he overcame as a youth.
And many of us were moved to tears when these a amazing athletes, one by one, accepted their awards from him and the other boxers. This was a day filled with love, laughter and miracle. And one we will all remember for a lifetime.
