WBC Cares: Building a Global Mental Wellness Network
Last week, we had a great meeting bringing together multiple groups interested in creating a global mental wellness platform. Through introductions and discussions, we aligned on shared goals, emphasized collaboration, and set the stage for actionable initiatives that connect boxing, wellness, and mental health.
The Working Agenda featured opening remarks by Eric Kussin, founder of #SameHere, followed by a formal welcome from Myka Wilshire. Additionally, Dr. John Rosa introduced mental health support networks and alliances, emphasizing professional guidance, partnerships, and strategies to address mental health challenges worldwide.
Dr. Andrew Pleener shared a detailed ecosystem overview, highlighting wellness companies and existing assets. This presentation connected current efforts with potential collaborations, creating a roadmap for joint initiatives. Later, Mauricio Sulaiman and Jill Diamond presented WBC Cares programs, demonstrating ongoing work and how boxing can serve as a global wellness platform.
Finally, open discussions encouraged brainstorming, with contributions from Riley Osborne, Sheva Carr, and Facundo Pardo. Through dialogue, possible collaboration frameworks emerged, linking recovery, technology, and wellness. Together, all participants are shaping a unified approach, ensuring that boxing not only inspires physically but also supports mental health worldwide.
