Move for Life: A Call to Physical Activity Against Cancer

An Initiative with Impact

With the participation of the World Boxing Council, international featherweight champion Marilyn Badillo, and ambassador Narda Castro, along with the COI Foundation (International Oncology Center), the class “Move for Life: Together Against Cancer” was held. This session was led by Cecilia Aguilera, aiming to promote movement as a key tool for health.

Movement and Health at the Mexican Olympic Committee

The event took place at the facilities of the Mexican Olympic Committee, where Bernardo de la Garza was also present as a representative of the organization. For 45 minutes, oncology patients and their companions participated in a physical activation session, demonstrating that exercise can be a great ally in both recovery and disease prevention.

The Importance of Physical Activity

Bernardo de la Garza emphasized the need to promote exercise as a preventive tool. “We encourage people to exercise to prevent cancer and other diseases. Many awareness campaigns focus on early detection, but one of the best preventive strategies is physical activity. We hope that through these initiatives, more people will get active,” he stated.

Exercise as Part of Treatment

Meanwhile, Erika Ortiz, director of the COI Foundation, highlighted the importance of movement in both prevention and recovery. “For COI, it is essential to show that exercise is a fundamental part of daily life. Especially after treatments, it is very beneficial for our patients to stay active,” she noted.

A Message of Awareness

This initiative reinforces the commitment of WBC Cares and the COI Foundation to raising awareness about the importance of exercise in cancer prevention. Movement is health, and every action counts in the fight against this disease. Move for life!
