Taveena Kum is a certified Boxing Coach and Official, certified in NCCP Coaching Athletes with a Disability and Coaching Athletes with Down Syndrome. She has 15 years of competitive boxing experience, holding the title of 4-time Provincial Champion and 2-time Canadian National Champion, with many other prestigious Boxing accolades. Taveena is a former member of the Canadian National Boxing team and represented Canada on the international stage. Additionally, Taveena was a former Guyanese National Boxing Team member, earning her spot at the 2020 TokyoOlympic Trials.
Professionally, Taveena works at the Waterloo Catholic District School Board and volunteered as a high school wrestling coach. Certified in Special Education since 2005, has her degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE), Educational Assistance (EA), and Resource Teaching (RT), she emphasizes the importance of education and sports.
Passionate about merging her expertise, Taveena founded the Fierce N Fit Special Needs Charitable Organization, serving as Founder and Executive Director. The organization focuses on her ‘Fierce N Fit Special Needs Boxing Program,’ designed to address the social, emotional, and physical needs of individuals with special needs. Her goal is to create an inclusive environment, particularly for youth and adults with physical or developmental disabilities.
Taveena demonstrates the healing power of boxing through her clients, drawing on her international boxing experience, educational background, and personal life journey. Taveena leads with empathy and passion, sharing the benefits of boxing in an inclusive and empowering setting.
