WBC Cares fosters family bonds.

While being inducted into the Hall of Fame was a career highlight, nothing compared to the pride she felt watching her sons, Cristobal and Julio, win the championship in the Mexica League.

Today, her passion for boxing was matched by the immense joy she felt for her sons’ baseball victory. Ana María shared, ‘Being inducted into the Hall of Fame was a tremendous honor, but seeing my sons here today and celebrating their championship is even more special.’

With a radiant smile, Ana María expressed her gratitude, saying, ‘I want to thank everyone who has supported me throughout my journey, especially my mother, in-laws, brothers, family, husband, the World Boxing Council, Don José, and my compadres Christiane and Mauricio.’

On ‘Coffee Tuesday’ with a baseball twist, Jill Diamond, president of WBC Cares, and Christiane Manzur, president of WBC Cares Mexico, were incredibly proud of Ana María’s athletic achievements. But even more so, they admired her as a wonderful mother and wife. The family is the most important core in life, and it’s something that WBC Cares also promotes.

It’s an honor to be here today with Ana and to celebrate her induction into the Hall of Fame. It’s also a great pleasure to be with my godchildren. For Mauricio and me, being their godparents is a great responsibility, and seeing them happy today with this trophy means a lot to us as a family.

It’s very important to encourage the practice of sports within the family, as it promotes health and well-being,” Christiane noted.

For her part, Jill Diamond said, “I’m very happy to be in Mexico and also happy because today boxing and baseball are coming together.

Mauricio Sulaimán, president of the WBC, expressed his joy and reiterated the recognition deserved by one of the most transcendental female figures in Mexican and world boxing.
