In the lead-up to the most important fight of his career at St Mary’s Stadium, where the WBC interim super featherweight title will be at stake, undefeated local boxer Ryan Garner and his trainer, Wayne Batten, made an emotional community visit to the Singh Sabha Gurdwara in Southampton.
The British duo spent time with children from the Sikh community and their families, who actively participate in the evening boxing and fitness sessions organized by the religious temple.
During the event, Garner displayed his championship belts, allowing the young people to take photographs and sharing motivational words to boost their sports ambitions. In addition to the community time, the local pugilist and his trainer surprised those in attendance by donating tickets for their card this Saturday, June 20, against the Italian Michael Magnesi.
The leaders of the Sikh community and the members of the Singh Sabha Gurdwara publicly expressed their gratitude toward Garner and Batten for the noble gesture, urging the entire local community to unite and pack St Mary’s Stadium in support of their local idol on a historic night for the city’s sport.
