The History of WBC Cares – Building on a Legacy of Social Impact
Founded in 2012, WBC Cares traces its roots back to the early days of the WBC, established in 1963 by the visionary Don Jose Sulaiman, father of Mauricio Sulaiman. Don Jose Sulaiman recognized the tremendous potential of boxing as a catalyst for social change. He initiated numerous programs and initiatives that championed the sport and its positive values.
One of Don Jose Sulaiman’s most enduring legacies is the creation of the WBC Charities and the WBC Cares program. These initiatives harness the power of boxing to uplift individuals in need, including children battling cancer, victims of natural disasters, and refugees. Since assuming the presidency of the WBC in 2014, Mauricio Sulaiman has been steadfast in upholding this tradition of social responsibility and community engagement, further expanding the reach and impact of WBC Cares.

Cleto Reyes, renowned for producing high-quality boxing gloves and equipment for over 70 years, stands as an iconic boxing brand. Their gloves, recognized for durability, comfort, and distinctive style, have garnered favor among numerous world-class boxers, including Floyd Mayweather Jr, Manny Pacquiao, and Canelo Alvarez.
In addition to their renowned boxing products, Cleto Reyes proudly supports WBC Cares. Since 2018, they have been contributing a portion of their sales to our organization.
